Why Triot?

A Triot trike is different.  Everything has been engineered from the ground up for a specific purpose, a trike purpose.

Far too often in the trike industry we see companies put together a trike from existing bicycle technology.  While we recognize there is great technology in the bicycle industry, we don't build bikes--we build trikes!  Great trikes!

Please take a moment to explore below the great features and technologies of a Triot trike, many of which are so unique they are patented.

Safety is the foundational principle upon which the Triot was designed. You can feel secure riding a Triot, knowing it will perform as you need it to, whether you are enjoying a casual cruise along the trail or instantly swerving to avoid a collision.

Full Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Triot trike hydraulic disc brake

Hydraulic disc brakes on all three wheels.  Most recumbent trikes only have brakes on the front two wheels, each controlled independently, with no brakes on the rear wheel.  Think about riding a typical bicycle with only front brakes or driving a car with only front brakes. Hydraulic braking on all wheels gives you the most control and safety when braking, especially in emergency situations.

Akermann Steering

Triot trike steering and suspension

When turning a trike, or a car, the inside wheel needs to turn in a sharper circle than the outer wheel in order to maintain traction.  The technology used to make this happen is called Akermann Steering.  Triot uses akermann steering to maintain perfect control while turning; no wheels slipping or losing traction in the turn.  As a rider you are able to maintain safe control of the trike, reduce cornering strain on the frame, and reduce wear on your tires.

Full Suspension

Triot trike rear suspension

Well-designed suspension can be the difference between safe performance and disaster. Suspension adds to a comfortable ride but more importantly it keeps your wheels on the ground.  Rarely do we ride on perfectly smooth bike paths or roads.  It seems when riding we always find the bumps, rocks, roots, and other debris, all trying to disrupt our safe ride. The precisely designed suspension of each wheel on a Triot trike keeps each wheel safely in contact with the road.

Enclosed Chain

Triot trike enclosed chain

Look closely.  The chain is completely enclosed in the doube-diamond truss frame of the Triot.  This means no more grease on your legs, but more importantly, it means nothing can damage or jam your chain while riding.  You no longer need to worry about debris getting caught in the chain as your ride or anything causing a failure in your chain.

Carbon Fiber Seat

Triot trike carbon fiber seat

The patented design of the carbon fiber seat is unmatched in the industry.  Not only is the seat ultra-light weight but it is also extremely comfortable.  The shape is perfectly contoured to give you support in all the right places while allowing movement where you need it.  It is able to flex just enough to fit your body and still give you all the support you need.  The design keeps you in your seat when cornering but allows freedom of movement to ride more aggressively if you choose to do so.

Adjustable Air Cushion

Triot trike inflatable seat cushion

The adjustable air-cushion provided by the inflatable seat cover gives the rider full control of the feel of the seat.  When riding any kind of cycle, the micro-vibrations caused by the road or trail lead to excess fatigue and even numbness during a long ride. Not any more.  The air cushion provides the perfect insulation for the rider from these micro-vibrations.  You will feel less fatigued and more energized at the end of the ride.

Ergonomic Grips

Triot trike custom ergonomic grip

Triot has designed the first grip made specifically for the recumbent rider.  No longer do you need to settle for traditional bicycle components attached awkwardly to a recumbent handlebar.  These grips are designed for you, the recumbent rider. Everything is in the right place and easy to use.  What's more, the grips can be customized to your needs.  Each trike can be set up for single-hand control (left or right) of shifting and braking for those who may have limited use of one hand.

Supportive Headrest

The adjustable headrest gives you a comfortable ride by reducing strain on your neck.  The seat position of the Triot is already more upright and comfortable than most recumbents on the market today but even the healthiest person can get tired when on long rides.  No problem, just sit back, rest your head while you ride, and enjoy the comfort of cruising on a Triot.

Full Suspension

Triot trike front suspension

Rarely do we ride on a perfectly smooth road.  For this reason, the Triot trike is designed with individually adjustable full suspension.  You can set each shock to your preference and need.  There is enough suspension movement for you to ride up a standard curb and maintain contact with all three wheels.  The bike is built to absorb the road so your body doesn't have to.
Safety is the foundational principle upon which the Triot was designed.  You can feel secure riding a Triot, knowing it will perform as you need it to, whether you are enjoying a casual cruise along the trail or instantly swerving to avoid a collision.

Every detail of a Triot trike is engineered for supreme performance. Attack the trail, corner with confidence, and stop under control.

Diamond Truss Frame

Triot trike diamond truss aluminum frame

The Triot frame begins with each tube of the frame built of hardened 6061 series aluminum in a super strong, reinforced diamond pattern.  Then, the tubes are welded into the truss design (one tube supported over another) to give the frame unsurpassed strength and longevity.  This design is much stronger than a traditional tube frame.  It is able to flex just enough for comfort and control while maintaining its strength and performance.

Gates Carbon Belt Drive

Triot trike Gates carbon belt drive

The carbon belt drive used at the rear of the trike provides outstanding performance and longevity.  The carbon reinforced belt is able to transfer power to the wheel more efficiently than a traditional steel chain so almost none of your effort in pedaling is lost.  The light weight material keeps the trike nimble and easy to ride.  The materials used don't need to be greased and last 2 -3 times longer than a traditional chain before it needs to be replaced.  Only the best cycles use a Gates Carbon Belt Drive.

High Quality Components

Triot trike quality components

Consistent with the beautiful design, superior comfort, and meticulous safety, the components used on the Triot trike are outstanding.  Custom-designed hydraulic disc brakes made by Tektro, precision engineered hubs, and high-quality wheels are just the start.  Each Triot comes with your choice of the smooth and continuous Nuvinci rear hub or a top-of-the-line 14 -peed Rohloff internally geared rear hub.  You also have the option of adding a Hammerschmidt overdrive in the front crank to increase your gear ratio from 1 to 1.6 at the flip of a lever.

Precision Steering
